This “liga privada,” or “private blend,” is a truly special traditional cigar that was made just for “El Jefe,” Drew Estate’s president and cigar expert Steve Saka. It was aged for a full year before it went on sale. This strong, earthy, and rich espresso of a smoke was made with no cost wasted. Very enjoyable. Liga Privada No 9

Characteristics of Taste and Smoke
The wrapper smelled like sweet vanilla and oak bark, which was very interesting. I can smell vanilla, spicy spice, and dry berries at the foot of the cigar.
When I take a cold hit, I think of maple-glazed bbq beef jerky, and my tongue and lips feel like they are being pricked by sweet cayenne pepper. As I relax in a lounge chair in the Catskills Mountain and take in my surroundings, I can’t help but think that Bigfoot is going to sneak up behind me like in those Jack Link beef jerky ads.
The first tastes you get from Liga No. 9 are very strong. On the tongue, I taste dark leather, bitter espresso beans, vanilla, and a hint of simple syrup. At the back of my mouth, I get a hint of smoke. On the back of the throat, you can taste sweet hay, caramel, and red pepper spices.
The tastes are well-balanced and make me want more. The meaty taste from the cold draw goes away, and the taste aftertaste is very floral, like Chinese sunflower seeds. The burn is very even, and the ash of salt and pepper sticks well.
